King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow

This game, by Sierra On-Line, was recommended by a pen pal of mine. It was published in 1992, and is the sixth game in the King's Quest series. The style of the game is point-and-click adventure game. The previous games in the series required text commands to play. The booklet included with the game, "Guidebook to the Land of the Green Isles" is required to solve certain puzzles in the game. (the guide is available online) The story is of Prince Alexander going to the Green Isles to visit Princess Cassima. he discovers that her parents have died and the vizier is going to marry her. Alexander is unable to visit Cassima, so he explores the Isles in order to find out a way to see her and find out if she really wants to marry the Vizier. The different islands have themes based on fairytales. The Isle of the Crown is based on Arabian Nights, and the town architecture as well as a genie character show this. The Isle of Wonder is themed after Alice in Wonderland, featuring a chessboard landscape with a red and white queen, and a magical garden with talking plants. Beauty and the Beast was the inspiration behind The Isle of the Beast. But the Isle of the Sacred Mountain is inspired by Greco-Roman mythology.

The voice of Prince Alexander is Robby Benson, known for his role as the Beast, in Disney's Beauty and the Beast movie. All the other character voices were well done and the music is nice. The game is a fun classic! If you can get past the very pixelated graphics. I haven't solved the game yet, but I look forward to it! I have heard that the game has multiple endings. The game can be found and played for free on the Internet Archive, I will include a link below.
